Detail of oak hardpoint installed on lower wing main spar for tiedown connection. A helicoil insert is screwed into the underside of this block which will be flush with the fabric skin. A large eye bolt can be installed (and removed) to use for tying down the aircraft.

Builder's notes:

This picture shows our first departure from Mike Fisher's design. He hangars his aircraft, and thinks that rope wrapped around the interplane struts and running down and over the leading edge is sufficient for away airports. I don't, in a big way, and this solution is much more elegant.
Modifications should not be made lightly, and it helps to be an engineer or have access to one. In my case, access to an aerospace engineer (thanks, Dad!). Expect modifications, even seemingly minor ones, to increase the build time considerably, by the time the planning and materials acquisition are done, and the work performed.
