The Letter One day little Johnny asked his mother for a new bike. His mother told him that Christmas had already passed, but why didn't he send a letter to Santa to ask for that for next year? "But I want it now." said Johnny. His mother replies, "Well, try sending a letter to Jesus and ask him." So Johnny sat down with a pen and paper and started his letter: Dear Jesus, I've been a good boy and I would like a new bike. Your Friend, Johnny Then he read his letter, and on second thought decided to start a new letter. Dear Jesus, Sometimes I'm a good boy and I would like a new bike. Your Friend, Johnny He thought about this and decided he didn't like that one either, so he tried again. Dear Jesus, I thought about being a good boy and I would like a new bike. Your Friend, Johnny He thought about this and decided that he didn't like that one any better. So he left and went walking around getting more and more depressed. Finally, he went by a house with a small statue of Mary in the front yard. Having an idea, he grabbed the statue and hurried home. Putting the statue in his closet, he started his new letter: Dear Jesus, If you want to see your mother again, send me a new bike! Your Friend, Johnny
