excess of $290 million. The second installment, "Empire Strikes 
Back," premiered on May 21, 1980 and grossed $222 million. On the
same date in 1983, the "Return of the Jedi," premiered, topping 
all previous opening day box office records with a gross of 
$6,219,629 and grossed over $265 million.
