In order to become a subscriber of the NYSbirds-L email list, you must subscribe as follows:

Where “YOUR
NAME” is to be replaced by your given name and your surname. INCLUDE THE QUOTATION MARKS IN YOUR COMMAND.

Please do not send command line messages to the NYSBIRDS-L@CORNELL.EDU email address. All subscribers receive messages posted to NYSBIRDS-L@CORNELL.EDU.
Commercial messages of any sort will not be tolerated on NYSbirds-L. In order to reduce spam (junk) email, only subscribers may post messages. Subscribers violating this rule may be subject to removal from the list.

Subscribers may choose personalized settings of how they receive messages. To change these options, send the COMMAND (below) to NYSBIRDS-L-REQUEST@CORNELL.EDU mailto:NYSbirds-L-Request@cornell.edu.

SET OPTION
Where OPTION is one of the following; more than one option command may be used in a line:
**DELIVERY TYPE**
DIGEST
= Receive a single daily digest with all the messages of the day. The digest will
contain
MIMEDIGEST = Receive a single daily digest with all the messages of the day in MIME format. Each posting will be included as an attachment (so you may receive many attachments).
NOMAIL = Receive no mail from this list. This is useful if you want to temporarily stop receiving messages, but don't want to unsubscribe. (To start receiving mail again, send another SET command with one of the other three message type options.) This is useful if you plan to be on vacation and don't want to accumulate lots of mail while you are away. You will need to SET the COMMAND option back to one of the above in order to start receiving postings again.
**ACKNOWLEDGEMENT**
NOACK = When contributing to the list, do not receive a confirmation message that the message was distributed.
**YOUR OWN POSTINGS**
REPRO = Receive a copy of messages you contribute to a list when the messages are distributed to list.
NOREPRO = Do not receive copies of your own postings.
**CURRENT SETTINGS**
QUERY = To find out which options are set for you for this list.

LEAVE = Remove me from the list. I will JOIN again later should I decide to start my subscription again
Your name is not needed in order to unsubscribe. The only requirement is to send the message FROM your original subscription email address and that the message is to be sent to the NYSBIRDS-L-REQUEST@CORNELL.EDU address, NOT to the entire NYSBIRDS-L email list.

and flowing smoothly, do not direct any list- or subscriber-related issues to NYSbirds-L. It is imperative that these be directed to the
current list owner. If this basic rule is broken by a subscriber, they may have
their subscription suspended or terminated; however, this will not be without a
