Because a computer generates the timing structure, chooses chance operations, and activates pages of score in real-time, there is no printed score for this piece. This document is an outline of the organization of this composition.

How the timing structure works:

The lowest common denominator is a generator of pulses within Max at the rate of 1 per 104 milliseconds (ms).

These pulses are then filtered into three different streams and become tempi, decimal equivalents that are interchangeble with metronomic speed.

Every sixth pulse

(104 × 6 = 624) results in q»ª§, every seventh pulse

(104 × 7 = 728) becomes q»•¢,

and every eighth pulse

(104 × 8 = 832) becomes q»¶™ .

MaxMSP is used to control tempi, timing of entrances, and the appearance of graphic score pages. The players read this information from 4 computer screens, each with three different windows: score-pages, tempo countdown, and pulse.
