David Swaciak is employed with Cornell Cooperative Extension, Allegany and Cattaraugus Counties. He is a Resource Educator in Horticulture and Natural Resources conducting education and program development in commercial and consumer horticulture, private forest management and community forestry. Due to the revitalization initiative in Cornell Cooperative Extension, which required Educators to receive a Master's Degree, David took the opportunity to expand his knowledge and experience in the area of Community Forestry by enrolling in the Urban Horticulture Institute at Cornell University in 2002. He realized that most of the villages in Allegany and Cattaraugus Counties, and throughout much of New York, did not have active community forestry programs. David added to his professional accomplishments in 2003 by studying for and completing the rigorous three-hour examination administered through the local Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture and was awarded Professional Certification which recognizes advanced knowledge, skill and expertise in the field of tree care. David Swaciak obtained a B.A. from the University of New York at Buffalo in Environmental Design and Planning, in 1982. Seeking more knowledge in horticulture, while also working as a nurseryman and tree care professional, David received an A.A.S in Ornamental Horticulture from Niagara County Community College in 1986.
