No previous dance experience required. Swing dance styles of the '30s, 40s and '50s and today. The syllabus includes, 6 & 8 count Lindy, Jumpswing, Jitterbug, Charleston, triple step swing, and classic jazz moves for Lindy. The music is big band swing, big band rhythm & blues, jump swing, fast pop-rock: Count Basie, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Benny Goodman, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Royal Crown Revue, Billy Joel, Katrina & The Waves, Brian Setzer, etc. No partner needed: we rotate non-partnered dancers with each other frequently throughout each class, "a great way to meet people!" -Spring '97 student. If you do sign up with a partner, you are not required to rotate partners, except in our "mixer" dances. |
