Linguistics PhD students concentrating in computational linguistics are admitted into the field of Linguistics, and normally select Computer Science or Cognitive Studies as a graduate minor field. Coursework includes core linguistics classes and courses in computational linguistics and related areas taught in the Linguistics, Computer Science, and Psychology departments. A member of the minor field serves on the grad student's Special Committee. This line of study is appropriate for students with a strong interest in theoretical linguistics, in addition to computational linguistics. Admitted students are normally offered 5-year funding packages.
