Well, the rumors were true - RASH got back together recently. Well, sort of, anyway. 3 out of the original 4 members were in attendance. Steve "Jake" Jakubowski still resides in Milwakuee, WI, so he couldn't make it. We bashed out some of the old stand-bys from the eternal set list, & even messed around with a few new things as well. We were rusty, but like always, there was enough there that made everyone want to get together again in the future. It was cool to be bashing away on my drumkit & look up & see familiar faces again.

Looks like Trey Anastasio (of Phish fame) is getting to release his first solo album & tour behind it. Sounds like he's going to have a larger back-up band to support him, along with a horn section. Should be interesting. I really liked what he did with Stewart Copeland & Les Claypool in Oysterhead. This new album should be pretty cool.

So if you think the world is full of rude, insensitive idiots, well maybe you're not too far off. According to this poll, on CNN's site, 79% of the 2,013 people surveyed stated that rudeness & a lack of courtesy is a major problem in this country. (What - this is supposed to be news??) One of the issues raised is poor customer service, & that over half of the people polled claimed to have walked out of stores & businesses because of how they were treated. Kathryn's theory is that if everyone would make an effort to be civil to each other & try to be nicer, it would have a snowball effect which would end up improving things overall for everyone. Sounds simplistic, doesn't it? But you know what? That's where it should & has to start. If we could all make the effort to be better people, I'd like to think that the world would be a better place. Just think about it...

Great review of a live show by System of a Down in England that gives you a good insight as to why they're probably one of the most important bands to come along in a while. Most people still subscribe to the age old stigma that heavy metal music is made by & listened to by idiots. System of a Down certainly do their best to break that mold. Their latest album "Toxicity" is an excellent mix of political ranting & skull-crushing riffs. For those of you that like your music heavy, but literate, I'd suggest you check out this band.

Came across a great article on The Strokes. If you're not at all familiar with the band, or even if you are, this fairly short article gives you some good background on the group, & where they came from. It's funny how they address the issue of how some people consider them less "punk," or that they're "poseurs," because they came from fairly well-to-do families. I think that's a bunch of crap myself. You don't have to be a poor, hungry, struggling musician to be sincere. It makes me nuts sometimes how the punk/alternative/modern rock genre has such "rules" about such things. In any case, take a look at the article & learn about one of the best bands to sell records in a very long time. As far as I'm concerned about The Strokes, believe the hype!!
