Jeez, what is next? Now we have to hear what Julia Roberts thinks about President Bush's daughters' underage drinking? What's next - Brad Pitt's view on foreign policy?

Finally, some justice in the world!! (Well, almost anyway...) It appears that New York State is working on passing legislation that will BAN drivers from using handheld cell phones while driving their vehicles. I HATE people who focus more on their stupid phone than the road!! My guess is that this probably won't ever pass, but at least someone is using their head for a change. I'll be interested to see how this develops.

Here's a story that I just had to laugh at. It's about how some woman is suing a pet store because she slipped & fell on dog drool from a large dog that was on the floor of the store. While I certainly don't think it's all that funny that someone got hurt this way, being the owner of a Saint Bernard who is extremely drooly, I found this amusing. _________________________________________________________________________
I've been somewhat curious about the A.I. after having seen the trailer for it. Over the last couple of days, I've read several things about it saying that the movie has the potential to be this summer's blockbuster film, & it's a real triumph for Steven Spielberg. The reviews (here & here) I read today certainly seems to confirm that. This summer certainly has had it's share of blockbuster movies, full of stunning images, but severely lacking in any kind of sustainable plot lines, so far & it's only mid-June. I'll be curious to watch & see what happens with this film.

Kathryn has created her own web site. It will be cool to watch it grow & progress.

A new season of Sex & The City has begun- woo hoo! What a great show. It has some of the best dialogue around. I can't help wondering if there are other men watching this show, asking their significant others' the same question I have asked Kathryn - "Is this really how women talk to each other?" with the answer being a resounding "Yes!" It just reminds me that men have no idea at all what's going on in women's heads. But, that's half the fun, I suppose. :) If you don't have HBO, the first two seasons are now available on both VHS & DVD. If you haven't already seen them, I suggest you check them out.

I recently got a membership through work from a software training company in Rochester, NY called New Horizons. I'm in the process of learning Microsoft Access which I plan to make use of in my job in a big way. This really seems like a great program & it subscribes to the one saying that can get you through life - "A place for everything, & everything in it's place." It's a great way to keep all the information that you need in one specific database, but still allows you the freedom to manipulate the data any way you like. Works for me. While in Rochester recently, I visited the legendary House of Guitars. Very cool place, but also a HUGE mess. Having spent the better part of a combined total of six years in music retail, just wandering around this store makes my head hurt. There's literally stuff EVERYWHERE - on the floor, on the walls, on the ceiling, you name it. They have an incredibly large selection of t-shirts, including tons from bands that disappeared with the '80s & haven't been heard from since. I've always liked this store, but it's somewhat overwhelming, even for a record store enthusiast like me. It was cool to see t-shirts from old bands like The Chesterfield Kings & Immaculate Mary (both bands who'd had employees of the store in them at one time or another, if I'm not mistaken). I caught part of a set by Immaculate Mary back in 1988 at The Lost Horizon in Syracuse, NY, when my old friend Darin's band Axiom opened for them there.

The first weekend in June traditionally marks the beginning of the Ithaca Festival. And the kick-off event, was the annual parade. This was the first time that we've gotten the chance to see it ourselves, & it was a blast. Of course, you have to keep in mind, that this is not your average parade with marching bands & the like, oh no, keep in mind folks, this is Ithaca, NY, & pretty much anything goes. And honestly, that's one of the big reasons why I love living here so much. Some of the participants in the parade included the Volvo Ballet, the Hemp Harolders, the dog-walking group(s), guys on stilts, various groups of people playing percussion on all various types of items (including drums, pots, pans, & computer keyboards) just to name a few. It's really a trip to see this event, & again, it just really confirms for me why we have chosen to make this place our permanent home. It's an eclectic town, full of variety & choice & this parade shows the pride people in Ithaca have in simply enjoying being themselves. I can't think of any other place on Earth I'd rather live.
