Check out this great article about Josh Freeze, who is the amazing drummer for A Perfect Circle, sent to me by none other than the maestro himself, the mighty Dickie Odgen. This guy is absolutely amazing. Watching him play live made my head hurt.

The elitist snobs at Pitchfork.com have come up with another list to end all lists - The Top 100 Albums of the 1970s. What I find interesting about these kinds of lists, is how they're almost always completely subjective. But, they're always fun to read. I'd have to say that it's interesting to see a bunch of "more-credible-than-thou" types put together a list of albums from a decade like this. There's quite a bit of stuff they left out, but as I said, it's all subjective. Check it out for a laugh.

Beware, there's a new band on the scene in Central New York. You've been warned. More to come...

All right, here's the beginning of the SF trip posts. First & foremost, we had an absolutely amazing time from start to finish. We visited numerous places & did many most excellent things. Here's a rundown of some of it: Started out by going to Fisherman's Wharf & took a cruise across SF Bay to Tiburon & had lunch at Sam's Cafe with our good friend James Lin & his girlfriend Vanessa, hung out in the hot tub at our hotel the Comfort Inn Suites in South SF (by the way, don't stay there because they treat their Housecleaning Staff unfairly. They'd been fired & replaced in March of 2004 & were picketing the site while we were there. Had we known this, we'd have gone elsewhere), spent way too much money at the world's best record store Amoeba Music in the Haight (oh my God do I LOVE THIS PLACE!!), drove around the Marin Headlands (go to the link to see some excellent pictures - one of the most beautiful spots on the planet), went to Sausalito for dinner (caught the moon rising over the Bay on the way back, absolutely amazing), wandered around Berkeley & had lunch at Zachary's Pizza (this pizza rules, check it out if you go there), had dinner at the Tuscan Inn (where James' girlfriend Vanessa works), went to see indie rock Gods Tortoise with our good friend Dickie Odgen (of Chemstry Set fame) at Bimbo's in North Beach (& they ROCKED HUGELY. You have to go to this place to believe it, unlike any other rock club I've ever been to), made the hike to Yosemite for a day trip (didn't spend as much time there as we could have, but suffice to say, the place is magnificent - you must go there) & spent the night in Mariposa (about 30 miles south of the park itself), drove back to SF & checked into our amazing room at the Argonaut Hotel (thank you James!! We got hooked up in a major way staying there!) located right on Fisherman's Wharf with clear views of both the Golden Gate Bridge as well as Ghiardelli Square (note there are two separate links for that one), caught the excellent movie "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (which was great by the way - see this movie!), took a boat cruise "under the Golden Gate, round Alcatraz" on the most sincere Serendipity (which was just unbelievable - it was $10.00 a piece & the guy who runs the boat is a complete character), had lunch at Louis' Restaurant (great diner food, you won't believe the view) overlooking the ruins of the Sutro Baths - turn your volume down before you click on this, but make sure you check it out to see the pictures, drove down Route 1 going south passing through a variety of places including Half Moon Bay & Santa Cruz, saw A Perfect Circle at the San Jose University Events Center (I have to say that this was one absolutely outstanding concert. This was pretty much the tail end of their tour, so if you haven't seen them, you're out of luck, but my God, did they rock in such an amazing way) with both Dickie & his fiance Patty both of Chemstry Set fame, & also hung out with them at their home in Oakland & their home-away-from-home McNally's Pub as well.
Well, that's kind of the highlights in a nutshell. More to come, hopefully some pictures, & some more specifics about the tunage we got out there as well. Loads of good new stuff to listen to. Suffice to say, it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. More to come soon...
