Just recently finished reading the band biography on the Grateful Dead called "A long strange trip," written by long-time band historian Dennis McNally. Here's a pretty accurate review of the book, that I would tend to agree with. I enjoyed the book & all the behind-the-scenes details it provided. The only trouble I have with reading books about bands I truly enjoy, is that I end up running the risk that what I find out the band members as people is sometimes not always that flattering, & it can change how I feel about them. I have no doubts that the Dead were/are great people - but, they were also rock stars who became everything that they'd chosen not embody when they'd first begun in 1965 as a band. If you're a fan of the band who'd like to know more, take the time to read the book, as it provides extensive background on them & their music.

Found a great site dedicated to one of my all-time favorite movies - The Warriors.

New Foo Fighters album due on 10/22. It's called "One by One." I've heard the single "All my life" once & immediately liked it. I am convinced that Dave Grohl cannot write a bad song. I'll be looking forward to overplaying this disc soon. Also on the new release front, is the new album by Audioslave. This is the new combined band of Chis Cornell (formerly of Soundgarden) & the remaining members of Rage Against the Machine. I think the combination of Cornell's voice & the instrumentation of the Rage boys will make for an interesting album.

Got together with the Rash boys last weekend. This was our third foray as a trio. It's starting to come together more each time we play with each other. I think the first time we did it, none of us were really sure what to expect. Now, it feels more normal, & we're starting to fall back into our old patterns of playing with each other. A few new tunes are starting to crop up here & there, along with some odd choices of covers as well. The next weekend jam will be the first weekend in November.

Seems I have been lame about posting again. What - me not having anything to say? I will try to do better in October.
