Registration Problems

Registration problems can occur if you have not agreed to all the Terms and Regulations (checked the boxes), if you have entered your NetID incorrectly, or if there was a problem contacting SideCar on your machine.

There can be a problem contacting SideCar, if it is not running on your machine, if there is a problem with the SideCar installation on your machine, if your computer is on a NAT (a kind of router), or behind a firewall.

To solve this and contact sidecar, first verify you have typed your NetID correctly. Then, confirm that SideCar is in fact running on your computer. Please note that on a Macintosh, success in authenticating against kerberos does not guarantee that SideCar is running. Instead, check in your application menu to confirm that SideCar is there. If SideCar is running and you still get the error, try reinstalling kerberos and SideCar on your computer.

If you are experience this problem because your computer is behind a NAT, you can try using EZ-remote to connect instead, or just use a different computer which can successfully run Kerberos and SideCar to register for CU People.

If you are behind a firewall, you will have to open port #913, so that it is no longer blocked.
